About Joe
'Waats'asdiyei (Joe Yates), owner of FBX Films, is a Haida from Craig, AK. With an Anthropology studies background, ‘Waats’asdiyei is now studying Film as his major and minoring in Digital Journalism. Before switching careers, he worked 13 years with the youth in small communities throughout Alaska. He uses all his backgrounds on helping his filmmaking by bringing his culture, managing and working with others, and teaching others when they need help.
‘‘Waats’asdiyei's produced, directed and wrote his latest film ‘Voices of Our Ancestors,’ which has been accepted in eight film festivals across the globe with winning three awards and one nomination along the way. 'Waats'asdiyei recently has been selected as one of the six fellowship writers for a PBS/CBC show, Molly of Denali.
